On Monday 28th September, our Year 1 human beans enjoyed a truly whizzpopping Roald Dahl POW Day, packed full of wonder, imagination and a sprinkling of giant-sized magic!
The day began with the children stepping into the marvellous world of Roald Dahl, discovering fascinating facts about the famous author and learning about the stories that have delighted readers for generations. Our classrooms were soon buzzing with creativity as the children explored some of Dahl’s most beloved tales and characters.
Inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the children became inventors of their own scrumdiddlyumptious sweet treats, designing colourful chocolate wrappers that would have made even Willy Wonka gasp with delight. They also bottled their dreams by creating magical dream jars inspired by The BFG, imagining all the wonderful dreams that might float through the night sky waiting to be collected by the Big Friendly Giant himself.
To complete the day’s adventures, the children took on the role of illustrators, drawing and painting characters in the distinctive style of Quentin Blake. Their artwork was full of personality, colour and imagination, bringing Roald Dahl’s magical creations to life.
It was a gloriumptious, gobblefunking day of creativity, storytelling and fun, and the children showed fantastic enthusiasm throughout. We are sure the BFG would have been proud of all our clever Year 1 human beans and their magnificent imaginations!
