British Values at Bedgrove

At Bedgrove Infant School, our intent is to guide pupils in developing and demonstrating the skills, attitudes and behaviours that will allow them to positively participate and contribute to life in modern day Britain. We actively promote the fundamental British Values that are defined by the government and this forms part of our work with children in relation to Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education (SMSC).

The areas of British Values as outlined by the government are as follows:

  • Democracy
  • The Rule of Law
  • Individual Liberty
  • Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs

The values above fit into our Proud to be Purple Principles and our bespoke PURPLE curriculum which is mapped and tracked across all subjects and weaved into our assembly plans. In short, all staff at Bedgrove Infant are responsible for identifying and delivering British Values through their everyday contact with pupils.
