On Wednesday, our school was filled with excitement and anticipation as we welcomed the New Mozart Orchestra for a very special visit. From our youngest pupils in F1 all the way through to Year 2, every child was captivated by the musicians and the beautiful classical music they shared.
The New Mozart Orchestra regularly brings performances and workshops to schools across Buckinghamshire, and we were delighted to host them. During the visit, the children listened to a charming story about a bear visiting London, wonderfully brought to life through narration and musical accompaniment. The musicians also introduced the children to different musical groups and showcased 12 instruments, including the violin, flute, oboe, trumpet, and double bass. Watching the children’s faces light up as each instrument was demonstrated was truly special.
One of the standout moments of the morning was when the whole school joined the orchestra in singing “London Bridge Is Falling Down.” The children have been practising this classic song during singing assemblies and in their classrooms, and hearing their voices blend with the live orchestra created a magical experience for everyone.
The musical excitement continued on Thursday, when a small group of children had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a violin workshop with members of the orchestra. They learned more about the instrument, explored how sound is produced, and even had a go at playing together as a group. It was an unforgettable hands-on experience that the children embraced enthusiastically.
The entire visit from the New Mozart Orchestra was a tremendous success and an enriching experience for all involved. It is certainly a memory the children will treasure for a long time to come!
The orchestra also commented on how beautiful the school is, how fabulously PURPLE we are, and what a credit the children were to us as a school. Their kind words made the visit even more special and reflect the wonderful atmosphere our children help create every day.
